The Sun 'n Lake Fire Department is a combination department which operates under the supervision of the Public Safety Officer. Members consist of both paid and volunteer firefighters. Paid personnel are on duty 7 days per week between the hours of 08:30 AM and 04:30 PM. The department's volunteer firefighters supplement the paid members by responding to alarms from work or home. Both paid and volunteer firefighters are alerted to emergencies via a pager system operated by the Highlands County 911 Center and respond 24 hours per day, 7 days a week

Regular training's and drills are staged for our firefighters. Our department consists of three fire fighting apparatus, a ladder truck, pumper, and a brush truck, which are kept on the premises.

Sun 'n Lake Fire Department responds to numerous emergency requests to the vast area of the Sun n Lake District. These emergencies include fires, emergency medical emergencies, auto accidents and many other types of calls for assistance

The department is part of the Highlands County automatic mutual aid agreement and responds as a secondary agency to emergencies in Highlands Lakes, City of Avon Park and West Sebring Fire Districts. Sun 'n Lakes Fire Department is available to respond to any location in the county upon the request from that agency

The Prevention Division conducts regular inspections of all business located in the District. Any new commercial construction must submit a complete set of plans to the Fire Department for review by a State of Florida certified Fire Inspector.

Mission :  The Mission of the Fire Division is to provide quality and dependable service in a responsive manner, while showing care and compassion for those in need.  We will protect lives, property and the environment through fire suppression, rescue, disaster preparedness, fire prevention, community education, first responder medical care and hazardous material mitigation.   

Program Description:  The Fire Division team consists of both paid and volunteer members that work together to provide a professional and caring environment that is fair, honest, ethical and treats all individuals with the utmost respect and dignity.  The Division members will be supportive and responsive to the needs of the District in a loyal, ethical, and professional manner.  The Fire team members provide rescue and fire protection throughout Sun 'n Lake which includes inspection of businesses, schools, religious institutions and adult living facilities.  In addition, the division provides complimentary Fire safety education to all residents, schools and local civic groups.

In FY 2005, The Fire Department will continue its proactive approach in fire protection and begin new community programs and expand community education.
